I finished my Fulbright grant in Japan, and found myself back in the states without any photo equipment, save my cameras. I finally managed to lay my hands on a drum scanner of my very own a couple of weeks ago, got it up and running last week, and am scanning in all the film that I've been building up over the past few months, bigger and better than ever before. I'm working full-time doing non-photography things, but I'm hoping that this blog will be an updated once-or-twice-a-week sort of deal. The quality of the drum scans means that I can put a lot more effort into each photo that I post, which I hope will make up for the slower pace. For anyone who's interested in the technicals.. the scanner is a Howtek Scanmaster 4500. Everything that you see up here, starting with the Tokyo street scene from 4-9-08, is scanned on that machine. There is one image that I posted back in December which was scanned off a Heidelberg Chromagraph S3400, a beautiful machine that is just too big to fit in a NYC apartment! Most everything is shot on either my Leicaflex 35mm, or my Mamiya 120mm RZ67 ProII.
